Instructions for Authors

The first step is to register as
an author.
If you already have a username and password, this step is not necessary.

The next step is to log in at the
start page with your username and
password.
This brings up a page containing a number of links.
To submit a paper to the IEEE Transactions on VLSI, follow the
link marked Submit a Paper to TVLSI.

After filling out the Submit Paper form, you will be asked to verify
the information entered.
You will also be prompted for the name of a postscript file containing
your manuscript.
The file must first be transferred to TVLSI's ftp directory.
Instructions on transferring
the file are available.
The review process will be significantly expedited if your paper
is available as postscript.
If you cannot give us postscript, then please contact:

Wait until the system indicates that the submission process is
complete; this may take up to a minute.
Then go back to the start page
and log in using your username and password.
Click on the links named Check Review Status,
Retrieve/Update Contact Information and
Retrieve Postscript, Abstract, Reviews to make sure that
the submission was completed successfully.

It takes about six months to reach a decision about a paper.
You will be informed about the decision via e-mail.
In the meantime, you are welcome to use the
Check Review Status form to check on the review status
of your paper.
To do this, you will first have to log in at the
start page with your
username and password.
